The Truth?
Sometimes the screen is just easier.

Does any of this sound familiar?

  • I wish we were a 'no-tech' family, but that's just not realistic for us

  • I don't want to be the 'mean mom,' but I don't want my kids doing what their friends are doing

  • I know we need a filter, but the choices are too overwhelming...

  • We are a no-tech/low-tech family, but I'm worried my kids aren't prepared for the real world...

  • I need technology for work; how can I tell my kids not to use devices when I'm on mine all the time?

  • I want to throw all of our devices out the window, but my kids would revolt

  • I actually get really overwhelmed by this whole issue

This yom iyun is for you.

When you have clarity about your family's tech values, the daily decisions get easier. When your kids understand the 'why' behind your choices, the battles get smaller. When you're confident in your approach, consistency becomes natural.

This event meets you where you're at with real tools, research, and role plays so you're prepared the next time you hear "but everyone else's mom lets..."

I have been looking for perspectives within a Torah lens that can guide us through our technology use in the home. There was an underlying theme (technology can be dangerous) but so many open perspectives of how to navigate in a world in which technology exists at baseline.

This felt SO healthy and balanced and real!...I was a little hesitant to watch bc I didn't want to listen to people telling me that tech is bad and dangerous and assur. But this yom iyun was refreshing comforting and empowering! I got practical tips, language to use with my kids and some time to step back and think about what I really want. Thank you!

The quality of the speakers was fantastic! I learned so much. I particularly liked the neuroscience and hashkafa!.. I watched two talks with my husband and we had a really good conversation about what we want for our kids...

Your children deserve parents who lead with wisdom, not fear.

And let's be honest."No," isn't working anyway...

Together, we'll go beyond fear-based messages and learn how to:

  • Build strong kids so that they can make their own good choices

  • Explain the up-to-date brain research to our kids (hint: it all points at limiting screen use)

  • Make conscious choices about small changes that feel right for you

  • Navigate filters, phones, and screen time with clarity

  • Feel confident in your decisions and flexible to grow and change with your kids and the world of technology

This issue can feel SO BIG.

This event is designed to decrease the overwhelm and help you get clear on your values, your options and one small step that you can do today.

ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Ilyssa

And I’m so glad you’re here!

Technology is a BIG topic in parenting right now and by nature I'm an information gatherer. So, when my kids came home and wanted more tech access than our family lets, I started talking to people; that was the birth of this yom iyun.

You might think that multiple degrees in child development and psychology prepared me for the "Ugh, you are the meanest mom..." moment, but I was torn. I didn't want to be the overly strict mom, but I also don't want to start down a slippery slope. Sound familiar?

So, who am I (other than a mom trying to make good decisions about tech)? I am a clinical psychologist, mom of five and parent educator to parents of neurodivergent/complex kids. I received my training at Stanford University and The University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB). I live and work in Jersualem.

My personal journey as a parent has given me deep compassion for parents raising complex kids in this complex time in the world.

I hope this yom iyun gives you lots of food for thought and some clarity on your next step:)
