journey, Avigail identifies 5 main underlying causes of ADHD symptoms, provides important information about the use of stimulant medications, the importance of routines (even for kids
who really struggle with them), her approach to punishment and a focus on skills development .

R. Yaakov Horowitz is the Executive Director of Bright Beginnings and the Former Director of Yeshiva Darchei Noam (Monsey). In this interview he empowers parents to really listen to their
children and work collaboratively with schools to create programs and accommodations that work for a child. R. Horowitz talks about lessons he learned from his own experience as a child
who did not thrive in school and lessons he learned from working with boys for whom school is just not a fit.

Helping ADHD kids as an ADHD Mom: A Personal Account
Shira Kasser was diagnosed with ADHD in 1 st grade (in the 1980’s when that was uncommon). She was disruptive in class; she couldn’t organize herself; she had to write all of her assignments on her arm so she wouldn’t lose them. Today she is a project manager- she professionally uses her executive function (ability to prioritize and organize) to bring projects to fruition. In this talk, Shira talks about her journey, tips and tricks she uses with her 4 ADHD children and her hashkafos about responsibility, resourcing and personal growth.
